Trainer Tony Gollan has been thrilled with the condition of talented sprinter Fontelina this time and is confident the horse is primed for success in Saturday’s 2015 George Moore Stakes (1200m) at Doomben.

Fontelina has been a strong and consistent performer since first appearing on course competitively for Anthony Cummings in during the 2011 autumn; posting a credible six wins and four minors through a total of thirty-two career starts.

Several times placed at the highest level without managing to break through for a maiden Group 1 win, Gollan was thrilled when the Testa Rossa gelding was transferred to his care following a lacklustre winter preparation and is confident the firm Doomben track will play into the horse’s strengths in the 2015 George Moore Stakes.

“He’s going great this horse, his first-up run at Randwick was terrific,” Gollan told Racing Ahead.

“He was caught in the wrong part of the track on Derby Day, exposed all the way – it’s not his go up the straight.

“He’s back in Brisbane in great shape, and he’s probably one of our leading chances.”

Gollan has included a total of six runners in George Moore Stakes nominations including veteran sprinter Temple Of Boom, who is also displaying the right qualities for an impressive first-up performance on Saturday.

“He had quite a lot of mucus after the Memsie, so we tried to give him a break before the summer carnival here heading towards the Magic Millions,” Gollan said.

“Being older, it’s not any easier to get them fit, so the shorter lay-off should suit him.

“He’s had a 1000m jump-out, and plenty of course proper gallops, so he’s in good order for Saturday’s race.”

Temple Of Boom delivered Gollan his first Group 1 success when storming home to win the 2012 edition of The Galaxy, and has continued to impress in posting eleven wins and sixteen minors through a busy sixty-one start career.

The 2015 George Moore Stakes final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday (November 25th).
